The Official Charts by TRADEway Quick Start Guide

You’re all excited about learning to trade, and then it’s time to…learn a new charting software? It can be intimidating learning a new charting software from the ground up, but you can do it! We’re going to walk you through the five step process we recommend to traders learning how to use Charts by TRADEway for the first time.

Step 1: Check Out TRADEway’s YouTube Channel

Did you know that TRADEway has tons of videos on our YouTube channel all about Charts by TRADEway? Subscribe to our channel so you never miss a new Charts video. We have an entire playlist dedicated to Charts by TRADEway on our YouTube channel, and we are always adding more videos.

Step 2: Watch the “Charts by TRADEway – Session 1: Quick Start Guide” Video

There are four videos we suggest as a minimum that will help you get started with Charts. We suggest watching one section at a time, and stopping the video to practice in Charts before moving on. If you’ll perform the tasks you will learn better than just watching it.

The first one is our Session 1: Quick Start Guide video. In this video, you’ll learn how to access Charts by TRADEway, how the platform is laid out generally, and where you can find resources to help you get the most out of the platform.

Step 3: Watch the “Charts by TRADEway – Session 2: Trade Account Set Up” Video

The next video we recommend you watch is our Session 2: Trading Account Setup video. In this video we’ll show you how to create a virtual account, how to enter a trade, as well as how to add a real account (as opposed to a virtual account).

Step 4: Watch the “Charts by TRADEway – Session 3: Getting Around” Video

Next we recommend you watch our Session 3: Getting Around video. This video is all about how to navigate around the platform. We’ll also cover some of the research elements available in Charts, where you can access information about your brokerage account within the platform, as well as the trading journal feature.

Step 5: Watch the “Charts by TRADEway –  Session 4: Trade Management” Video

Finally, we recommend you watch the Session 4: Trade Management video. In this video we’ll cover stock trade management. We’ll cover staging orders, what happens with a working order, monitoring your current positions, being able to see past trades, and then we’ll talk more about the power of journaling your trades.

We’re excited for you to get started with Charts by TRADEway! Our platform has so many incredible features, and we are hard at work adding more. Our goal is to make it an incredibly effective and intuitive platform to use for our traders. You can reach out for support at any time at support@tradeway.com if you have further questions.

Investment Advisor Representative ( IAR) Coach/Mentor

What is your “why” for being on the TRADEway team?

It’s a great feeling to work for a company that is striving to further the kingdom and caring for God’s people.

What do you love most about the TRADEway clients?

It’s extremely satisfying to see the “lights go on” and see a student’s eyes light up when they go from knowledge to understanding.

A trading lesson I learned the hard way:

Early on in my trading, I held a very profitable trade because it had time left till expiration. I watched that trade become a small loss. Now, when my trade hits my target, I get out regardless of how many days are left till expiration. I’ll never forget the terrible feeling I had when I learned that lesson.

What do you love most about your job as a Coach?

I love helping people. I take some of the struggles I had when I first started trading and I’m able to relate to and help students with the same challenges.

Fun fact or hidden talent:

I was in the rodeo and I’ve team roped with my son and daughter for many years.

Personal life:

My first grandchild has quickly become the center of my world.

Favorite Bible Verse:

Best trading memory:

Earning enough profits on a call trade to pay for a scuba diving trip on the first day of the trip. I didn’t trade during the rest of the trip since it’s not feasible to do so while under water.

Favorite Bible Verse:

Colossians 3 (the whole thing). Stay focused on above while doing the best you can before you get to above.

8 Ways Daily Affirmations Can Potentially Improve Your Trading

Stock Trading Affirmations and Increased Profitability

We know what you’re thinking:
Daily stock trading affirmations couldn’t possibly help with my bottom line, could they? But once you’ve been trading for a while, you come to realize that your mindset influences how well you trade. Practicing daily stock trading affirmations can help prime your mind to think positively about your ongoing trades, and give you the potential to make better trades.

Ex: I am a consistently profitable stock trader.

Stock Trading Affirmations for Better Discipline

Lots of mistakes in stock trading happen because of fear. That’s because when fear kicks in, it’s tempting to abandon your trading plan. How can you stick to your trade plan despite your fear? Start practicing daily stock trading affirmations to help you become a level headed trader who consistently plans their trades and trades their plan. Remind yourself daily that you are a person who keeps your own stock trading rules–and you will become more likely to.

Ex: I know how to find my edge and I am disciplined at following my plan.

Stock Trading Affirmations to Help You Stick to a Stock Trading Routine

Sticking to a routine is crucial to finding success as a stock trader. Saying stock trading affirmations about sticking to a routine can help you do just that. It’s a gentle way (no guilt-trips needed) to be much more consistent with your stock trading schedule.

Ex: I always define and follow my routine.

Stock Trading Affirmations and Not Taking Losses So Hard

Losses happen! They are a part of being a stock trader. But when you take losses too hard, it can negatively impact your future trades. Saying stock trading affirmations about putting losses into perspective, and how they are okay and natural in every stock trader’s journey, can help you get back on track (and back to profitability) faster.

Ex: I understand that breakthrough in my trading is measured over time. I do not allow a single trade to become everything.

Stock Trading Affirmations Can Help You Trade More Efficiently

Many of us get into trading to make money faster and spend less time making it, right? So each week you can focus on making your trading habits more streamlined is a week you move closer to that goal. More time does not always equal better results. Learn to work efficiently and on the most impactful things to truly improve your trading. A stock trading affirmation that reminds you to do this can help you do it!

Ex: I understand that being busy is not the same as being productive. I define and refine my process every week.

Stock Trading Affirmations and Reminders to Build Your Trading Community

Trading can feel lonely–but it doesn’t have to be.
Trading in community with other students and mentors is key to becoming the best trader you can be. Stock trading affirmations that remind you to build a trading community around yourself will help you reap the benefits of doing so. Don’t have one yet? Check out our Mentorship Hub where you can learn one on one with highly qualified and experienced stock trading coaches.

Ex: Some say trading is a lonely profession…This is not true for me. I am connected and empowered by community and accountability.

Stock Trading Affirmations to Remember to Learn From Your Mistakes

If you think you should never make a mistake as a trader, think again! It’s okay if you have made mistakes and it’s okay if you continue to make mistakes as a trader. Nobody trades perfectly. It’s what you do next that counts. Do you learn from your mistakes? Or do you feel shame that gets in the way of you truly looking at what happened and what to do differently next time? Saying daily stock trading affirmations can help you develop a growth mindset regarding your trading. This mindset is essential to your success, and affirmations are a great way to cultivate one if you don’t think this way naturally.

Ex: My setbacks always give me a payoff that makes me better.

Stock Trading Affirmations To Stay Positive About Trading

Stock trading affirmations can help you remind yourself to celebrate each and every win–and to look for all kinds of trading wins, big and small. Be positive and congratulate all the good habits and actions you do each week in your trading. This will help you keep up a natural sense of momentum.

Thinking positively about the future and what will be is a mindset that all successful traders need. When you expect good things to come, you tend to act in ways that bring those good things about. Expect to get great at stock trading and have it contribute to your family’s income each month (or even potentially one day replace your income).

Ex: I celebrate profits and I celebrate good habits in every single trade I do. There is always something good.

Stock Trading for Your Family with TRADEway’s Unique Family Policy

In a world where financial education is often considered a solo journey, TRADEway stands out by charting a different course—one that embraces the strengths and values of family. At TRADEway, we believe that financial empowerment should be a shared experience, enriching not just the individual but the entire family unit. This belief is the cornerstone of our unique “family policy” for educational materials, where we invite families to embark on a journey together, learning, growing, and building legacies that will last for generations.

A Policy Rooted in Family Values

Our commitment to family is not just a marketing slogan; it’s a deeply held value that permeates every aspect of our educational offerings. TRADEway’s Family Policy ensures that when you invest in our financial education programs, you are doing so for your entire family. For a single price, you, your spouse, and your children (up to 25 years old) gain access to our comprehensive suite of educational materials. This approach ensures that everyone in your household can learn the principles of trading and investing together.

The Power of Learning Together

The benefits of learning as a family are manifold. First of all, it encourages open communication about financial goals, strategies, and challenges. When family members are on the same page, it becomes easier to make informed decisions collectively. This shared understanding can reduce conflicts and enhance the family’s ability to support one another in achieving their financial ambitions.

Moreover, learning together can be a bonding experience. Parents can model positive financial behaviors for their children, who, in turn, can bring fresh perspectives and ideas to the table. The intergenerational exchange of knowledge and experience can be incredibly enriching, leading to more robust and well-rounded financial strategies.

Building a Legacy Through Education

At TRADEway, we understand that building a family legacy is about more than just accumulating wealth; it’s about imparting values, knowledge, and skills that can be passed down through generations. Our educational materials are designed to equip families with the tools they need to navigate the complexities of the financial markets confidently. From beginner courses that cover the basics of trading to advanced strategies for seasoned investors, our curriculum is comprehensive and accessible.

Our commitment to family education is reflected in the variety of resources we offer. Our online courses, webinars, and workshops are designed to cater to different learning styles and paces. We also provide ongoing support through our community forums and one-on-one coaching sessions, ensuring that every family member can get the help they need when they need it.

A Community of Like-Minded Families

One of the unique aspects of TRADEway’s family policy is the sense of community it fosters. When you join TRADEway, you are not just signing up for a course; you are becoming part of a network of Christian families who share your commitment to legacy building. Our community events, both online and in-person, provide opportunities for families to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another.

This sense of community is particularly valuable for family members who may be new to the world of trading and investing. Seeing other families succeed can be incredibly motivating and can reinforce the idea that financial education is a lifelong journey.

Supporting You Every Step of the Way

We recognize that every family is unique, with its own set of challenges and aspirations. That’s why our family policy is designed to be flexible and inclusive. Whether you are just starting your financial education journey or looking to deepen your understanding of advanced trading strategies, our programs are tailored to meet your needs.

We also understand that financial education can be complex, which is why we provide a wealth of resources to support your learning. Our coaches are experienced traders who bring real-world insights to the table. They are dedicated to helping you and your family navigate the financial markets with confidence and competence.

The Future of Financial Education

As we look to the future, TRADEway remains committed to our mission of empowering families through financial education. We believe that our family policy is more than just a selling point; it is a testament to our belief in the transformative power of education. By involving the entire family in the learning process, we are helping to create a generation of informed, confident, and financially savvy individuals who can carry forward the legacies of their families.

In conclusion, TRADEway’s family policy is a reflection of our core values and our unwavering commitment to fostering financial literacy within families. We believe that by learning together, families can build stronger bonds, make better financial decisions, and create lasting legacies. We invite you to join us on this journey and discover the power of family-centered financial education. Together, we can build a brighter, more financially secure future for generations to come.

Meet TRADEway Coach Casin South

The TRADEway Coaches share the vision of helping Christian families become active traders who build lasting legacies. Every TRADEway Coach has a unique story about how they became a part of the TRADEway family and how they navigate the Stock Market God’s way, and we’re excited to share those stories with you.

Meet Casin South

About Casin South:

Casin became a TRADEway student in 2018 and joined the TRADEway team as an Investment Advisor Representative (IAR)  in 2023. He loves analyzing the markets and working with our students one-on-one to help them better understand the system. He currently lives in Texas. When he isn’t working with TRADEway students, or managing his own trades, he is probably on the golf course.

When you joined the TRADEway team:

2023

Area of expertise at TRADEway:

Coaching / one-on-one mentoring as an Investment Advisor Representative

What is your “why” for being on the TRADEway team?

I can’t begin to describe how helpful it was for me as a student to have the TRADEway Coaches in my corner as I was learning how to trade. Now I have the opportunity to be a part of that same support system for new traders and it is such a privilege. I love the stock market and helping people navigate it. I really am a market geek.  In my spare time I love reading biographies of past traders and the systems they use to navigate the market.

What do you love most about the TRADEway clients?

I love how relentless our students are. They understand that learning something new takes time and effort and they put their heads down and go to work–which, in turn, pushes me to be the best Coach I can be for them. Iron sharpens iron.

What do you love most about your job as a Coach?

Trading can be a lonely profession if you do not have a partner or community. Having like-minded traders and believers on this journey with me is my favorite thing about TRADEway. I always love spending time with the students on our webinars. I love the community.

Fun fact or hidden talent:

I love snowboarding. I go when I can and it is always my favorite time of the year. I have even placed a trade on my phone from the ski lift!

Personal life:

My family is truly a blessing. I have two older brothers and a little sister who I talk to daily and have always been very close with. My parents are actually the ones who introduced me to TRADEway.   They fully supported my desire to pursue trading from an early age and for that I will always be thankful.

Best trading memory:

I will never forget my first “big” win. I was 18 years old and I had a call option on a really nice up-trending stock I had been watching. While I was in the trade, the company got bought out by another company, and the stock opened $10 higher the next morning. I took my profits and sent an email to the TRADEway Coaches so I could celebrate with someone about it.

Favorite Bible Verse:

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Meet TRADEway Coach Ross Querry

The TRADEway Coaches share the vision of helping Christian families become active traders who build lasting legacies. Every TRADEway Coach has a unique story about how they became a part of the TRADEway family and how they navigate the Stock Market God’s way, and we’re excited to share those stories with you.

Meet Ross Querry

About Ross Querry:

Ross Querry started as a TRADEway student before becoming an Investment Advisor for TRADEway. He has a God-given ability to help students break down trading principles and concepts into understandable elements. He is an expert in developing creative educational experiences that help students in their trading journey.

When you joined the TRADEway team:

2010

Area of expertise at TRADEway:

I am the Lead Investment Advisor Representative for TRADEway, helping our leadership team reach goals and further our impact.  I’m also a Step 2, Step 3, and Step 4 instructor. You can also find me on our Market Corner live webinars, helping students grow with a deeper understanding of stock trading. My passion is coming up with innovative and creative ways for students to develop a better understanding of trading concepts.

What is your “why” for being on the TRADEway team?

My “why” for being on the TRADEway team is very similar to why I joined TRADEway as a student in 2010. My wife and I wanted to change our lives, both now and in the future. We wanted to build assets and create the life experiences we wanted to have. We wanted to create a family legacy of financial understanding and freedom. And most importantly, we wanted to positively impact others.  My “why” of being part of the TRADEway educational team are the same reasons. Now I just have the focus of helping others accomplish the same thing and also to meet their specific “whys.”

What do you love most about the TRADEway clients?

I am constantly amazed by our students, and love how our clients have a heart for God and the like-minded goal of improving their lives and impacting God’s Kingdom. This common life goal (that uses trading as a tool) is what makes TRADEway and our students special. Our clients encourage me to be the best Coach I can…for them.

What do you love most about your job as a Coach?

I love it when I literally see the “lightbulb ah-ha” moments spark when a trading concept finally clicks and students can see the impact that this new knowledge can have on their lives. My greatest personal fulfillment is when I see other students succeed and change their lives.

Fun fact or hidden talent:

I’ve jumped out of a perfectly good airplane many times.

Personal life:

I’ve been happily married to my wife, Michele, for over 20 years. We have a son.

Best trading memory:

Over time I have found that trading identifies and amplifies many aspects of who we are (our personality in the moment). Amazingly, to be consistent or successful with our trading goals and truly use money as a tool, WE may need to adapt. Trading is more about us and how we think and respond, than it is about the market or making money.

Three life lessons that trading has taught me are:

1. Trading pushes us to go beyond our comfort zone.

2. Trading encourages discipline.

3. Trading teaches us to develop emotional balance.

These principles have helped me improve my life in many other ways outside of trading…I guess you could say that trading is about life 🙂

Favorite Bible Verse:

Beyond the many verses of God’s love for us, the sacrifice of Christ for our sins, and the gift of salvation, Phillippians 4:6-8 has helped me through many phases of my life (whether I’m thriving, surviving, or struggling). These verses have provided me with a foundation of encouragement, strength, and a focus for my thoughts. In these words based on Christ’s love for us, I find balance, peace, comfort, and direction.

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” –Phillippians 4:6-8

Meet TRADEway Coach Caleb Pritchett

The TRADEway Coaches share the vision of helping Christian families become active traders who build lasting legacies. Every TRADEway Coach has a unique story about how they became a part of the TRADEway family and how they navigate the Stock Market God’s way, and we’re excited to share those stories with you.

Meet Caleb Pritchett

About Caleb Pritchett:

Caleb Pritchett first joined TRADEway in 2013 when he and his father attended a Step 1 live event taught by David Mitchell. After Caleb graduated high school, he attended Oklahoma Baptist  University for a full year, pursuing a degree in history, before he felt called to do something different. He returned home, took the fall semester off, and by January 1st of 2017, decided to pursue trading as a career. Caleb has been trading in the markets actively for seven years. He lives in Texas and is looking forward to starting a family and passing on his knowledge to the next generation to establish his legacy. He enjoys cooking and creative writing in his spare time, and is hoping to become a published author soon.

When you joined the TRADEway team:

2023

Area of expertise at TRADEway:

Coaching, mentoring, and content updating

What is your “why” for being on the TRADEway team?

I’m passionate about helping students through their periods of frustration to the confidence that lies on the other side. The Lord has uniquely positioned me to be able to do this (just as He has with the other Coaches). It is an honor, and greatly humbling, to be a helping hand and a voice of encouragement in our students’ trading journeys.

What do you love most about the TRADEway clients?

I love hearing our students’ stories. Every one of them is unique, and learning about their backgrounds or the ministries they are involved in is so rewarding, and offers much needed perspective. To have a hand, however minor, in their ministry work and in their lives is sobering and satisfying. In a very real way, their success is our success; as Coaches, I know we never get tired of hearing our clients’ success stories.

What do you love most about your job as a Coach?

I really love support roles, so my favorite work is co-hosting and working behind the scenes to keep the TRADEway machine running.

Fun fact or hidden talent:

I’m an avid swordsman! In classical fencing, I prefer épée and saber to foil, but when it comes to HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts), nothing beats fighting with a longsword. Sword fighting is not unlike dancing: it’s all about your feet. So…dancing with consequences?

I really love music! I’m a bit of an out of practice drummer (not that that’s ever stopped me from air drumming to every classic rock song I’ve ever heard), and share a rich family history of musicians of various instruments, from flute, to voice, to piano, and beyond.

Personal life:

I just relocated to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and I am excited to be near so many great TRADEway team members.

Best trading memory:

My best trading memory came after a rough period of trading. I was trading with a lot of frustration, and it was getting me precisely nowhere. I picked up and read through Mark Douglas’ “The Disciplined Trader,” and began implementing my new trade plan with confidence. Before long, I saw an opportunity in the price backed up with other technical indicators, I structured a trade around it, and when I got my entry alert, I jumped in without hesitation and quickly found myself managing the largest profit I’d ever seen in my account. The details of my plan and of my trade are irrelevant, because what changed more than anything was me, not the trading tools at my disposal. I used to think that trading was about knowing the perfect system, but that’s not true. Trading is about YOU; your ability to adapt to the market, to be flexible, to change your mind when new information presents itself, to take stops without feelings of shame, and to forgive yourself of mistakes. These things are difficult to do — if they weren’t, everyone would be a trader! Through this process, I found myself clinging to the Lord and relying more on Him than I ever had before. For that alone, I think trading is the best job out there, and I wouldn’t trade it (see what I did there?) for anything.

Favorite Bible Verse:

Isaiah 45:5-7: “I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.”

I love verses that display and, without mincing words, make God’s sovereignty and power clear. We humans love to overcomplicate things and easily create flimsy boundaries around God’s power in our minds, intentionally or not. Sometimes routine can do this (we assume that because something has happened over and over that nothing else can). How wrong we are, and how wonderful it is to read a passage like Isaiah 45 and see that there is nothing beyond the power of God, that He is holding the very fabric of reality together, controlling light itself and the awesome power of creation…and yet we know from the words of His own mouth that his thoughts are toward us always and are for good. He knows us by name, picked us out of a fallen race, gave us hope, and gave us life to live abundantly. Truly, none beside Him are worthy of praise in the slightest.

Meet TRADEway Coach Dave Huber

The TRADEway Coaches share the vision of helping Christian families become active traders who build lasting legacies. Every TRADEway Coach has a unique story about how they became a part of the TRADEway family and how they navigate the Stock Market God’s way, and we’re excited to share those stories with you.

Meet Dave Huber

About Dave Huber:

TRADEway was founded in Dave’s garage which was converted into a home-office. He, his wife Katie, and father-in-law, David Mitchell began organizing classes to help people learn about the stock market, and the Lord helped it grow exponentially from there. Dave currently serves as a Speaker and as an Investment Advisor Representative.

When you joined the TRADEway team:

2005

Area of expertise at TRADEway:

Teaching and motivating. I will ask a lot of questions and challenge you to think for yourself.

What is your “why” for being on the TRADEway team?

I care about people. I want to meet their needs and point them to Jesus.

What do you love most about the TRADEway clients?

I love that when we get to interact, they feel more like friends than clients. They are so open to sharing about their lives. They show so much excitement and gratitude when they are happy with our services, and they show a tremendous amount of love, restraint, and patience if needing to express any concerns.

What do you love most about your job as a Coach?

Watching it “click” with students. It’s a very rewarding experience to help people.

Fun fact or hidden talent:

I play the harmonica and I have taught martial arts.

Personal life:

I have a wife (Katie) and three kids (Mady, Sam, & Abby), who are my highest priority when it comes to service.

Best trading memory:

An eight minute debit spread trade with same-day expiration. I played an intra-day bounce on the OPEC announcement when oil gapped WAY down. It was a win and it taught me that even when a trade goes against you, (the gap down had messed up another trade) there is opportunity for gain.

Favorite Bible Verse:

Choosing a favorite verse is way too hard for me, but I do have a favorite word. My favorite word in the Bible is “Selah” which doesn’t really have a meaning, but is a musical notation that is added for the purpose of a dramatic pause. It gives so much feeling to the scriptures when you realize what it’s there for. Sometimes it’s a pause to marvel in awe. Sometimes it’s an almost nervous holding of the breath. You have to pay close attention to the context to really get it, but when you do, it’s awesome!

Meet TRADEway Coach David Verbruggen

The TRADEway Coaches share the vision of helping Christian families become active traders who build lasting legacies. Every TRADEway Coach has a unique story about how they became a part of the TRADEway family and how they navigate the Stock Market God’s way, and we’re excited to share those stories with you.

Meet David Verbruggen

About David Verbruggen:

David has lived in Maryland, Belgium, Oregon, and Texas. He has had careers as a pilot, flight instructor, real estate agent, ministry coordinator, and customer service supervisor with Southwest Airlines. He considers TRADEway his most rewarding career, where he gets to teach financial education to all of the amazing TRADEway students!

His hobbies include playing trumpet, sports, hiking, climbing mountains, and traveling.

David likes to correlate a lot of flying principles he used to teach into his teaching here at TRADEway.  He loves to apply the same intentionality he used when teaching students how to fly as a flight instructor.

When you joined the TRADEway team:

2021

Area of expertise at TRADEway:

What is your “why” for being on the TRADEway team?

It is my passion to help Christian families pull money out of the stock market, so they have the resources to complete the missions God has given them.

What do you love most about the TRADEway clients?

I love learning from our students why they want to trade.  The variety of passions God has placed on the hearts of our students is incredible.  All our students have very selfless reasons for why they want to create more resources.

What do you love most about your job as a Coach?

I love helping students overcome psychological hurdles in trading and overall money management.

Fun fact or hidden talent:

I am a 6’0″ white guy who can dunk a basketball.  I have also been to all 50 states and 15 different countries.

Personal life:

My wife and I have been married for 10+ years and have two daughters. We also have a good-looking dog.

Best trading memory:

Being able to place trades while overseas.

Favorite Bible Verse:

Philippians 4:6. “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
