When I launched TRADEway back in the early 2000’s, I introduced twenty-one strategies for short-term stock trading.

Now TRADEway has dozens more than that available to our clients.

You might be wondering, ‘How can you even master that many strategies?’

You learn them one by one, little by little, line by line. It’s not something you do overnight.

It’s a journey!

And we have a system for it–the foundational courses you would start with are called Step 1, Step 2, Step 3, and Step 4. You build on those for anything else you do in our system. We have all sorts of support available, including our licensed Coaches.

Remember, you’re not going to get it all at once. It is good to learn as much of the language of Wall Street as quickly as you can, though.

You might think that bear markets and bull markets just sort of happen because of supply and demand and different issues going on in our country and around the world.

But in reality…

The Fed (The Federal Reserve of the United States) causes it.

Let’s dive into how this all works.

The Fed causes big up and down moves in the market.

And if you can learn to recognize what the Fed is thinking, what they’re doing, and what they’re about to do, that is a really important beginner concept to really help your stock trading.

HOW do you do this? By learning how to read between the lines of news stories about the Fed.

In this episode we’ll be talking about:

  • How governments decide when to print money and how this affects the economy
  • What history can tell us about markets, inflation, and the printing of money (this might give you some clues about what’s to come in 2023…)

In order to know when to actually place a trade, I think there are 3 steps:

  1. See & Chart a Pattern – Memorize the best recognizable patterns that stocks make, and the perfect buy point for each pattern.
  2. Check the Market Tone – Know when the market tone is right for your particular trade.
  3. Check the Fundamentals – Make sure the fundamentals of a stock give it a reason to go up or down.

Each pattern has its own buy and sell points. That means that for each stock pattern you memorize, you also need to memorize the correct buy points for that shape. What are the best patterns to use? And what are the buy points that go with each pattern? That’s what we’re going to cover today!

If someone asks me, “Can you tell the future,” my answer is “Not all the time.”

When you’re learning how to trade stocks, essentially what you’re learning is how to predict what will happen in the future–some of the time.

As stock traders we’re in the business of future speculation. We look at what’s happening now, and we make educated predictions about what will happen next.

Stocks make patterns–you have to admit that.

And you’ve got a couple of tools that help you see these patterns. What are those tools and how can you start using them? That’s what we’re going to talk about today.

I can remember when I was in the MBA program at Baylor, a professor gave us quite a few articles to read.

These articles seemingly proved mathematically that a chart will not predict the future.

So according to these authors, if you chart the price points of the stock going up and down, it will not predict the future.

Well, as a young man I sort of doubted whether that was true.

That’s because at that very same time my grandfather was making a lot of money in the stock market. And he seemed to be predicting what the stocks were going to do.

Now, his trades were not day trades, but he wasn’t investing either. He would get in and out of the stocks at opportune moments.

I knew that my professor was missing something.

But I didn’t really know what it was. Something in me just didn’t believe what he said.

So who was right? My professor or my grandfather?

Well it turns out they were both right. That’s because no one predicts what a stock will do using only a chart.

What is it that makes stocks do what they do?

It turns out there are 3 things that influence what stocks do… These three things are what drive the market.
