One Size Fits All?

As you start your trading journey, it’s important to realize that there are many different ways to trade. Just like driving a car or wearing clothes, your style may change over time, and this is a good thing.

Trading is like driving a car.
There are many different ways to drive a car. You can get in the left lane and try to go as fast as you can. You can get in the right lane and go slow and steady. You can be one of those drivers that is weaving in and out of each lane, trying to find the best line, the fastest way there.
There are a lot of ways you can drive your car, but ultimately what’s the goal? To get to your destination.
Trading is like wearing clothes.
There are some types of clothes that are going to fit you better than others. It doesn’t mean one is better than another, but they are different.
As a trader, you’re going to hear many different styles of trading. It’s great that we have these various styles, because you might not find which one fits you until you’ve tried a couple.
Sometimes the way our clothes fit changes over time; likewise our trading style will adapt over time.
As you become a better trader, you need to find the style that suits you best at the time.
The best thing a trader can do is identify the types of things that are working best right now. Ask yourself, “What things are producing the results I want to see? What kind of opportunities will get me to the goals I have set?”
Put on your best pair of clothes, get in your car, and reach your destination.

This is why we love limited government

There are many reasons we believe in limited government. One major reason government should be limited is that government control and regulations have a negative impact on economics.

If you have limited government it means you have lower taxes.
  • When you have lower taxes, companies can hire more people.
  • People make more and get to keep more of their salary so they have more disposable income.
  • More disposable income means people can buy more things.
  • Companies do better when sales are up, which means their pay goes up.
  • A positive cycle of prosperity is created.
Ronald Reagan said, “The most terrifying words in the English language are: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” He felt that private business could do everything better, because capitalism works. The free market system works, and it tends to create things that people want. When government does not interfere, the free market system works like a well oiled machine. When government tries to take charge with bureaucratic methods and rules, it stifles that cycle of prosperity. The whole economy dwindles, and it becomes like a sick little plant whose leaves wither, and there’s no fruit. Limited government is good for economics.

Goal Getters Don’t Dream

Do you have big dreams? I know I used to. Then, I became a goal-getter, and I decided I don’t want to dream anymore. Here’s why. Because dreams are something that reside in the realm of the imagination. It’s those things that we talk about that we think we’d really like, but we never actually expect to achieve or obtain. Think about it…so many people have this dream car or dream house in their mind, but they think they’ll never, ever get it. I don’t want to be one of those people who’s always dreaming. I want my goals to become reality, so I’m not going to dream anymore. Instead, I’m going to pull my goals into reality.

You might think, “All right, Dave. How is that even possible? What do you do?” Well, for me, it started when I realized the difference between a goal and a dream. I thought to myself, “What if I could take those dreams and treat them like goals? What if I just wrote these things down and started taking action to make them happen?” Then, they’re not imaginary, but in the realm of the real. I can go after those things because they’re not dreams anymore. Instead, they’re goals, and I can reach goals. I’m going to ask you again. Do you have big dreams? Because if you do, maybe you should turn them into goals and start taking action. If you want to figure out how to do that, and if you want some help doing that, come see us at TRADEway. We’re all about turning dreams into goals because we want you to reach your biggest goals. We’ll give you all the small steps that it takes to start that journey.

Relationships and Money

How can we approach money and relationships in a way that is healthy? Many people preach and teach that tying money in with relationships is a terrible thing. Unfortunately, there is a perception that gaining wealth means losing other things that are important. You have probably heard the terms “Money can’t buy happiness” or “Money can’t buy love” right? That is absolutely true, but money can definitely strengthen the relationships that do make us most happy.

Increasing wealth and using it positively has greatly influenced two important areas of my life and relationships: service to others and friends and family.
Service to Others: In the past 10 years I’ve been on many trips overseas to help people in need. I have had the privilege of making a difference in the lives of many people, and I have developed close friendships with people who also find value in serving others. All of that takes money. I had a pastor in Africa tell me once, “Blair if you come here and you have nothing extra to give, then we can’t receive anything from you.” Money lead to my ability to give and make a positive impact in the lives of other people.
Friends and Family: Money not only gives us the ability to help the less fortune. It can be used to add value to the lives of those closest to us. Money has allowed me to help friends and family when they were enduring hardships or experiencing difficult circumstances. There have also been times I was able to use money to enrich experiences with those I love. I have been able to create lasting memories with family or friends. I want to give God the glory. He has been generous toward me. I enjoy being able to show that generosity to others.
Over the years, the teaching and preaching I had previously heard that condemned the desire to increase wealth began to unravel. Along the way I learned that although you can’t buy love, happiness, or relationships, money can be used as a platform to bless, develop and grow those relationships. Having extra money and finding creative ways to empower your finances will, in turn, empower your relationships. This is a very healthy, and even holy, thing.

Practice Makes Perfect

You’ve probably heard the saying “practice makes perfect”. A more realistic statement would be, “Perfect practice makes perfect”. If you practice something wrong, then you are probably going to do it wrong.

When it comes to trading, what does it mean to practice perfection? It means you do things the right way. Follow the program, think through the trade, and make sure you are executing the trade correctly. This may not even mean you make money. A perfect trade could mean that you stop out to minimize your expenses. Every business has expense. No business makes every perfect business decision. It is important to learn from each decision.
Practicing perfection in trading does not mean you become rich overnight. It doesn’t work that way. It means that you are setting goals and making progress toward those goals. You get better after each trade, and apply what you have learned to the next trade.
If you can train yourself to do things the right way over time, and you’re getting positive results, then those results should increase over time. That should be your goal.

Keys to Transformation: Community

We were meant to live in relationship with others. We were meant to be part of a community.

In Christian community, we are strengthened by other believers. We are given accountability by other believers. Being part of a community not only holds us accountable for the things we shouldn’t do, but it holds us accountable to become all that we are meant to be.
The Bible says that we should live a life that is worthy of the calling that we have received. A good community calls you to this level and holds you to this standard. They see who you were meant to be, they don’t trip over who you are not, and they call you into the destiny that you were always meant to have.
We are stronger in numbers. The wolf loves the lone sheep, so we stay in the fold, we cover each other, we pray for each other. Being part of a community is a powerful tool.

Why the family business is best for women

The Biblical way to do things solves all the modern-day dilemmas. One major modern day dilemma is that women don’t feel like they can have both a career and a family at one time.

The number of women having children in their 40’s has doubled since the 90’s, and that is the only age group with a rising pregnancy rate. More women are choosing to put starting a family on hold in order to establish careers. Women should not feel like they have to sacrifice one or the other. This is why the Biblical family business model is best for women.
Ashton Mitchell, Social Media Brand Manager of TRADEway and daughter-in-law of David Mitchell, describes her experience as a woman and mother in family business.
“Here I am, I’m 26 years old, my husband is 24, we have 2 amazing children, and our careers aren’t on hold, they’re not suffering, they’re actually thriving. The reason for that is because we’re part of a family business.
My boss, and my boss’s boss, are my kids’ aunt and grandfather. Those two people love me and they love my kids. They have a vested interest in making sure my kids have the best care, the best opportunities and learn the family business, because this is their legacy. They’re not just looking at what quality of work I can bring to the table, or how much money I can bring in for the company, yes those things matter, but they’re not really the most important thing. When you’re in business with your family, the whole picture comes together.”
Family life isn’t separated from work. Mothers who are part of a family business do not have to feel like they are raising their children with no connection to what is happening in the workplace.
Women who are part of the family business model have the freedom to choose to be in the background while their children are very young, or take a larger role if they desire. Rather than being made to feel like they must neglect their family to make progress in their career, they are supported, because their coworkers are family.
There is also a sense of empowerment and pride when women know they are raising the future of their family business. Raising children with strong character and a foundation on God becomes part of what will make the business successful for generations to come.
Woman can have both a family and a career at the same time. Establishing a family business gives women choices, freedom and fulfillment.

This will make you want to be perpetually joyful

“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I say rejoice.” This is Philippians 4:4. You’ve heard it before. You’ve probably quoted it, but did you know it can actually help you be perpetually joyful? All you have to do is understand what it means and how it affects you as a Christian.

The Meaning
Paul, in this scripture, is telling us that we should not just be joyful. We should be joyful again, and again, and again, and again. It should be a perpetual joy.
The Context
You might be thinking, “How can I be perpetually joyful?” Skip up a few verses and you’ll find that in the beginning of the chapter, Paul is telling us to stand steadfast in the Lord, and also to have a like mind with the Lord.
The Method
In order to be perpetually joyful, you must first have the strength to do it. Connect with the mind of the Lord. You can find the mind of Christ in scripture. Read your Bible. He’ll give you the strength to become perpetually joyful so that you can again be joyful, always in the Lord.
Are you ready to experience perpetual joy?

How Making Money A Priority Can Strengthen the Christian Family

Making money a priority can strengthen the Christian family.

Proverbs 10:4 “He becometh poor, that dealeth with a slack hand, but, the hand of the diligent maketh rich.”  God blesses those who are willing to work. His people are created for a purpose, and each member of the family should use their gifts to build the family business. When you own your own family business, you don’t stop working at 5pm, but everything you’re doing is benefiting the whole family.
Proverbs 10:22 “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich and he addeth no sorrow with it.” The Bible gives guidelines for how money should be used. It should be used to benefit the family and as a tool to help others. Christian business owners should understand the importance of stewardship. If you’re walking with the Lord and being good stewards, God will bless you with more money, and he doesn’t bring sorrow with it. Your children will actually benefit from wealth.
Proverbs 24:3-5, “Through wisdom is a house built, And, by understanding is it established. With knowledge shall thy chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. A wise man is strong, yet a man of knowledge increases strength.” Wisdom will bring wealth to the family, but this is a conditional promise. We must gain skill sets and have a desire to learn. Gaining wisdom is what strengthens our family and leads to wealth.
When Christian families strive for business and financial success, each member is able to focus on God’s will for them within the business. They learn to use money as a tool to serve God. It will also strengthen family relationships. When increasing wealth is a priority for Christian families, everyone benefits.

Keys to Transformation: Try Something New

There is a Dr. Suess quote that says: “You’ll never get bored when you try something new. There’s really no limit to what you can do.” This children’s book quote should resonate with anyone wanting to experience transformation. It seems like a simple concept, yet many people struggle with change. If you are tired of the monotony, tired of seeing no results, tired of not meeting your goals, try something new.

Change can be beneficial.
Change might feel difficult. It forces you to leave what feels comfortable. There is some value to routine and consistency, but if you want to transform an area of life, you must try something new. Change has a domino effect. You do not have to make a huge change in your life to bring about transformation.
Change can be subtle.
Small changes in what you are doing can have a big impact on your future success. Choose any area of life and make a small change. Try a new experience, listen to a new song, find a new Bible study, watch a new video. Go completely outside of what you normally do in one small area of life, and you will find some energy that moves you. That energy is not going to stay in one area. It’s going to spill over into other areas.
Change can be powerful.
When you incorporate small changes into your daily life, the effect can be powerful. If you allow yourself to acquire new information and engage in new activities, you will experience growth. You may not even realize you need to change something you are doing, but as you try new things, you will begin to feel refreshed and inspired to make other changes. This is what will lead to transformation.
Make a subtle change in any area of life and watch how that small change brings about transformation in other areas. Do not be afraid of change.
